The end of the spring term at the Cobblers Study Centre was marked with a Presentation Evening in the Players’ Lounge at Sixfield’s stadium.  Pupils and parents from the Playing for Success programme were invited alongside our Kic.In2.Study group and Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award participants to celebrate the success of this term.  Over 100 people were in attendance to watch the pupils receive their certificates ad goody bags from first team players Stephen O’Flynn and Abdul Osman. 

Centre Manager Jean Limpitlaw opened the Presentation Evening and gave a brief talk about Playing for Success and events this term.  The young learners were then invited to receive their certificates, goody bags and medals from Club Mascot Clarence the Dragon and the first team players at the front of the room.  Kurt Perryman from Grendon Hall ended the evening by presenting sectional Duke of Edinburgh Certificates to our Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Group.   A great time was had by all as the players stayed behind after the formal presentation to sign certificates, posters and match day programmes.  We are looking forward to working with new schools in the Summer Term.

The event is raising money for Sports Relief! Our aim, in teams of four is to use indoor rowing machines kindly donated by Northampton Rowing Club to row a marathon! Each team will consist of three adults and one Playing for Success student please go to our Sports Relief page and sponsor us!

“hi i’m James and my thoughts of the day were … it was brilliant!!! my favourite part was when we got to train and warm up with some mini games my favourite part was when we played a mini world cup my team was Brazil even though we only came 3rd i had plenty of fun i would highly recommend this to other schools … Cobblers!!!”

They researched what an open, closed and hypothetical question were and discussed what questions they would like to ask. Andy Holt and Chris Dunn were very impressed with the student’s interview techniques and the range of good questions asked.

On Friday 19th March we are participating in the Inaugural Playing for Success Charity Rowathon at the Cobblers Study Centre. The event is raising money for Sports Relief. The event is a team relay, whereby teams of four, consisting of three adults and one PfS student will row a marathon (on indoor machines obviously!). Members of the Northampton Rowing Club are helping to support our challenge and teams will be racing us from PfS centres all over the country from 10:00am. We are hoping to have a video link up with the host centre at Bath Rugby Club to give the PfS students the sense that they are participating in a national event. We are also planning to have Supporter 2 Reporter coverage of the day whereby young reporters who have been learning media skills at our centre will be keeping you updated on the days events!
