Animation StudioThis evening at the Cobblers Study Centre young learners from Hopping Hill have taken part in a number of activities.  Half of the group were working with Ash in the animation studio to create a short Stop Motion film whilst the other half of the group were challenged to take over or create their own football club in the Cobblers Club Challenge.  All the groups worked extremely hard and some great teams were created.  Check back for the Hopping Hill animation in the next few days.

This afternoon we continued to roll out our S2R project with the boys from The Gateway school. Supporter to Reporter is an innovative media project that aims to encourage young people to develop a range of skills to allow them to report on top class sports events across the country. The Gateway boys are new to the project and in the past few weeks have been developing their interviewing and editing skills. They had a very productive afternoon editing and uploading player and fan interviews on to their Support to Reporter web pages as well as learning about Vox Pops. Lewis also caught the one of the Cobblers groundsmen for a quick chat about maintaining the pitch at the Sixfields Stadium.

Check this page over the next few days for Adams exclusive interview with Cobblers First Team members Simon Brown and Steve Guinan. For more Northampton Reports check the S2R website

Today it’s Harley’s 2nd Birthday… look how much he has grown!

Happy Birthday Harley!

No words needed…

In our first session this morning a group of students from the Gateway School were the first to complete the Cobblers Parachute Challenge.  They had to firstly mould a character out of plasticine and then design a parachute to slow down the fall of their character .  The students had to think about factors that would affect the effectiveness of the parachute such as the surface area of the parachute.  The finished parachutes were then launched from the top of the North Stand in the Sixfields Stadium and their descent was timed.  Bradley won the challenge and managed to keep his model off the floor for 2.1 seconds.

Lake Adventure Task! This evening our Playing for Success group from Falconers Hill Junior School completed the Lake Adventure Challenge at Sixfields Lake.  The young learners were challenged to photograph different landmarks and objects located around the lake such as the Northampton Lift Tower, The Saints Rugby Stadium, a roadsign and various wildlfie including swans, ducks and butterflies.  Back at the Study Centre the group have to download and print their photos and place them onto a points chart in order to gain Cobblers related prizes!  Chloe thought that evening was “better than expected, I enjoyed it!”

This evening at the Study Centre we have been joined by Danetre Secondary School.  They were challenged to Stadium Orienteering and the boys finished the course in record time!  Back in the Study Centre the group solved an anagram from all the letters they had found in the stadium and then had to make as many words as possible from the anagram.  One group managed to find 46 words (another record!!)

FC Porto working out the Stadium Orienteering Clues

Today we had a treasure hunt in the stadium and my group called F.C Porto were the winners.  Our team was Thomas, Connor, Ben and Luke.  We were very proud of ourselves.  Then when we came back to the centre and we had ten minutes play.  Some people played with the dog and some went on the computers, some played table football.  After that we played a game a team game. It was hard for some people and easy for others.  Next we went inside and had to figure out what the word was. In the end we found out what the word was and we had to make as many words as we could out of the anagram.  We found about 21 words so that was good!  Finally we started making origami t-shirts out of paper.  By Thomas and Connor.
