In the next couple of weeks Primary and Secondary school students from Daventry and Northampton will kick off their Playing for Success (PfS) programme at the Cobblers Study Centre.
As well as tackling learning and motivation through our fun and enjoyable PfS programme, we have some new and exciting projects lined up for the Autumn term. Three batches of budding reporters from the Gateway school will be attending the Study Centre to learn and develop the skills of sports reporting throughout the year. Our new Olympic themed project will provide our young reporters with an opportunity to develop their media skills whilst exploring the Olympic Values of Friendship, Courage, Determination, Excellence, Equality and Respect. Look out for them reporting on match days, interviewing Olympic Athletes, testing out new state of the art sports equipment and visiting media centres to see professionals at work!
The Duke of Edinburgh Award was delivered successfully for the first time at Northampton Town Football Club last term. The joint project between the Football in the Community Programme and the Study Centre culminated in our first group achieving their Bronze Award thanks to funding from the Football Foundation. After their presentation that is due to take place in early October, our ‘Bronze’ students will return to make a start on their Silver Award. We are also very excited to announce that a new Kic.In2.Study group will embark on the first stage of this challenging journey thanks to extra funding from the Northamptonshire County Council.
All the staff at the Study Centre are looking forward to the new term beginning. To keep yourself updated daily check our website and twitter pages.
